2 Years Ago Today...

Us enjoying our wedding meal...although we couldn't eat much!
Walking into our reception
I love this one!

Together Forever!!! I am so happy!
(I tried to post a bunch more pictures but it wasn't working for some reason...)
As far as plans, we are leaving this Thursday to go to San Antonio until Sunday. I am so excited! Brooke is staying with my in-laws--I'm so blessed that they are willing to do it! Our hotel has a pool so I am planning on swimming and laying out, of course, and we are going to do shopping (of course), especially because there is a Christopher and Banks there! Anyway, that is what our plans are. We aren't doing much today so that we can save money and go to a nice restaurant on our trip. I'll post pictures when we get back. I will also be posting some pictures of our honeymoon this week since I will be thinking about it a lot and what a blast we had.

L to R: Veronica, Mellisa, Me and Jess
And by the way, WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!!!! I'm so excited and will post pictures when I can! We will be moving July 12th, so it might not be until then.

Moving

I am working right now, but tonight I am going to upload some recent pictures. Life has been crazy as we have been packing and trying to get rid of as much as we can. Whatever we move into will be smaller than what we are in now, so we need to throw away a lot of junk.
And speaking of moving, we put a deposit in Sunday on a small duplex to rent, so we are praying that we are approved! We don't have good credit right now so we have to wait a few years while we rent, and then we can buy something. I love the duplex. The kitchen in it is awesome! It is 2 stories, has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a 1 car garage--a lot bigger than what we ever thought we would be living in for now!
While we won't be saving money as quickly as we were planning, we will have our own place and plenty of room. We plan on being there for about 2 years.
So...I will let you know if we get it for sure. If not, we will be looking again, which I don't look forward to, but I will know that it's the Lord's will!

This really irks Me

Something has really irked me since I became a Mom.

It's these people who think that taking care of yourself goes out the window once you have a baby. They talk about not having the time to shower for days, and once you do get in there, don't even think about shaving your legs--takes to long. You have to chop your hair off because you won't have time to blow dry it, straighten or curl it. Your life revolves around your baby, diaper changes, feedings and spit up. When you have a little free time you just want to sleep.

I agree that having a newborn is one of the most consuming jobs. While mine was very calm and content, there were several times that I had to let her cry it out before she eventually went to sleep. I would cry in bed listening to her. Nursing obviously takes a while to get used to and is very painful. I was up every 3 hours at night feeding her (although I know that is very good; some Mom's are up a lot more) and needless to say I was exhausted pretty much all the time.

HOWEVER. That did not stop me from taking a shower, shaving and doing my hair. There is no reason that people don't have time to do that--I'm sorry. I have never been one to spend forever on my hair or makeup, but I like to nice and presentable every day. Do I want my husband to come home to a frumpy housewife when he's seen hot blond bombers (aka pretty women) all day? He understands if I don't look perfect, but I want to look pretty for him, ready with a smile, kiss and a nice meal.

My Mom has 9 kids. Not one day goes by that she does not shower, shave, blow dry and curl her hair and put on her makeup. She doesn't take long, but that proves to me that it can be done, even with several kids.

Whew. It feels good to get that off of my chest.

Fathers Day

I didn't post then, so I will now.
This year was Nate's second Father's Day, and my dad's 21st. Both of them are amazing fathers, perfect for their children. They are the best dad's in the whole world!!! I am that my dad raised me the way that he did. The way that he did it, the convictions and standards that he had, prepared me for my husband. I am so thankful for a dad who stood up for what he believed in and didn't lower his standards or back down even when so many were.
Nate has far exceeded my expectations as a dad (as he does a husband). Brookie is definitely turning into a daddy's girl and I know that is because of the love and the care that he shows her each day.
On Saturday morning, Brooke and I were laying in bed as Nate got ready to go soul winning. When it was time for him to leave, he came over to give us each a kiss and say goodbye. She put her arms up in the air and started sobbing for him to pick her up. It was so sad :) and sweet at the same time. Of course, it melted his heart!
I will never be able to express just how grateful I am for my dad and my husband, the great men of God that they are and how they care for their children.
I love you both!

Change

Since October of last year, we were going to:

1. Buy a house
2. Live with someone for a while and save money
3. Build a house ourselves
4. Move our trailer onto a piece of land
5. Have a house built by a builder
7. Rent an apartment
8. Rent a home until we can buy one

These are the things that we "were going to do" for one or two days. Then we would discuss it and change our minds. As of right now, we are on either number 7 or 8. Just to let you know what is going on in our lives right now.

Oh, and we have to be moved out by July First.

Graduated to Glory

Most of you know Bro. Dave Hance. He was received into Heaven on Tuesday morning after a battle with cancer.
We all knew him as a Street Preacher and loving to talk :). He was great on the streets--I listened to him many times, especially on Beale Street. He asked many thought provoking questions, usually had a smile, and always remained calm. He was a great man of God and many people looked up to him. I will always remember him as a hero of the faith, a man not ashamed of what he believed in.
Please pray for his wife, Kelly, and son, Michael. He graduates from High School this week, so that will be a hard time.
Right now he is sitting at the feet of Jesus. No more pain, just worshiping his Lord and casting crowns at his feet. It will take him a while to do that because I am sure he has manycrowns up there that were waiting for him. He is meeting those who were saved from his ministry that he never knew about. Hard for me to fathom...but it makes me pretty jealous! Even so come, Lord Jesus.

Dave and Veronica's Wedding

On Saturday, June 7, David and Veronica were married. I was the wedding coordinator and it was crazy to say the least. :) Thankfully everything worked out (as it always does!) and turned out beautifully. They are now enjoying their honeymoon in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Kiss Kiss Kiss!!!
With their wedding party
Dave and Jess before the wedding. She's 5 months along now!
Me with the beautiful bride! It's funny because we took this picture when everyone was asking a million questions and people were very confused at what was going on. Amazing that it came out ok! :)
The church was decorated really nice
The beautiful bridesmaids. Jess and Mellisa were so cute with their maternity dresses on! (sorry for the bad quality)
Married at last! I am so happy for them!

Men and Motorcycles

Why is it that guys get such a thrill out of them?

Nate just bought one from his dad. Since he has a work vehicle, we don't need 2 cars during the week, but on the weekends we both have different things going on and usually need to cars. The bike will help us and we didn't have to spend a lot of money on it.

So a few nights ago, we went on a ride. It was around 9:30 or so, probably around 80 degrees (cool for evenings around here) and just a beautiful perfect night. We were on a windy road with no lights doing about 55-60. Not fast, really, but I was petrified. Not that it was the first time I had been on a bike, but it had been a while. I imagined a deer jumping out in front of us and we rounded a curve, or a drunk driver coming head on in our lane.
OK, I will admit that it was thrilling and fun and riding on a motorcycle, leaning forward and hugging your husband and talking when you are at a stop light is pretty awesome.

He was thrilled. I was scared, but having fun. I did it for him because I know he loves it so much.

And people try to tell us that men and women are all the same. Whatever.

When you see a woman standing there gawking at a motorcycle for 15 minutes, let me know.

He's All Mine!

The other night my husband had one of his buddies over to watch a movie with him.

(By the way, may I interject that it was"Mr. Beans Holiday," which they concluded was the dumbest movie they had ever seen, with a few minor funny parts in it. So don't waste your time, they said.)

Anyway.

I was in the other room cleaning my kitchen up a bit when I heard Nate say, "My wife isn't gonna watch it..."

That was all I had to hear. I started thinking about how much I love when he says "my wife". It almost sends chills up my spine because I am so thrilled that I really am his wife and have the privilege of being so for the rest of my life! When he first met me, obviously he called me Jenna. When we got a little closer, it was Jen. Eventually I was his girlfriend, and then his fiancee'. Those were great at the time but the day he could call me his wife was the best day of all. Other guys refer to me as Jen or, when talking to my hubby, "your woman", but he is the only one in the whole wide world who will ever refer to me as his wife. What an honor and a privilege.
I have to be the happiest woman alive!

He's All Mine!
